Tame the Tongue

Tame the Tongue

James 1:19-21

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.”

Taming the tongue

Brothers and sisters, this scripture is an awesome word to memorize for daily life activities and struggles. It seems like the enemy desires to release his spirit of anger into us everywhere we go, whether it be work, school, home and unfortunately even church! Before you begin screaming, cursing and fighting against your coworkers and loved ones, remember that sometimes it’s not them intentionally trying to upset you. Satan may be using this as a tactic to get you to stoop to his level without even realizing it. Either way you put it, it’s not worth going against the word of God!

The enemy will work hard to try and keep you in his palms when he notices you trying to live right for God. That’s just another reason that we should pray without ceasing. When we continue to have personal conversations with God, he will continue to work in our favor and fight our battles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with defending yourself, but you have to know the difference between defending yourself in righteousness and just being an angry person. If you find yourself constantly cursing at your spouse, hitting your children and feeling that no one understands you, nine times out of the ten this is only happening because you aren’t tuning in to God’s word that has already been planted in your heart. There is simply never a reason to verbally or mentally abuse others around you whatsoever.

The light is always there if you choose to allow it to shine in your life. If you’re reading this and it sounds like you, ask the Lord to forgive you and guide your spirit away from that angry lifestyle. You have the power of the Holy Spirit! Use that power to speak positive energy over your life and watch everything change for the better. “My Heart and The Holy Spirit Surrounded by Hell” is a great read for those of you in this situation.
